Wi-Fi Sensing vs mmWave Radar

Two non-imaging modalities with different strengths. Most serious deployments use both rather than choosing one.

Wi-Fi sensing derives activity from variations in channel state information across existing network hardware. It covers wide areas cheaply and requires little new equipment where the hardware is supported.

mmWave radar measures fine motion in a focused field. It detects stationary presence and supports posture and fall confirmation that whole-room RF variation cannot reliably provide.

Complementary, not competing

A practical care deployment might use Wi-Fi sensing for whole-suite activity and a single mmWave unit in the one room where stationary presence or fall confirmation matters. Insisting on a single modality is usually a sign the deployment was designed around a product rather than a problem.
